Active Support

Scout Active Support allows people to give their time to Scouting on a flexible basis. People can still be involved in Scouting without the full-time commitment of being a leader.

It provides a resource for Section Leaders, the Group Scout Leader or the Group Exec, who can use it in whichever way is required within the scope of the Units service agreement.

Scout Active Support is for anyone over the age of 18 years. It is a way for adults to volunteer time to Scouting in a flexible way that suits them.
There is no requirement to have been involved in Scouting before joining. All that is required is a willingness to volunteer some time to support 1st Hardingstone.

The Active Support Unit can be a source of extra adult help in Leader absence. Or they can teach skills that the existing Leader team do not have.

The  Scout Active Support Unit can provide support to Cub Scouts or the Scouts at section meetings, or when planning  expeditions. This could include fundraising. They can attend camp to assist either for the whole camp or for a day to teach skills.

The Active Support unit also carries out some of the maintenance of our hut and also acts as Quartermaster for our kit.

The Scout Active Support Unit can provide catering at events during the year. This could include Camps, Sectional Meetings and the AGM.

Two of our SASU are Chefs and cook for around 100 people at Group camp
